Financial Model Review
Sending an investor a financial model file that is not appropriate for your business model, with flawed assumptions and little to no KPIs is a signal that you are out of your depth, and is the kiss of death to many deals being closed.
When you purchase this service we undertake the following:
- We check whether the model is appropriate for the business model – e.g., if the Startup has a SaaS business model, but is using a standard Product based financial model.
- We check whether the model contains business model-appropriate KPIs.
- We check whether the assumptions made in the model are carried through into the model’s internal calculations (formulas).
- We check the overall logic and flow of the model to determine whether it “feels realistic” given the information contained in your current pitch deck.
- You receive a written report of what we believe is good, and what needs to be changed or supplemented for the financial model to be effective. Effective in this case means that if an investor that has already received your pitch deck and shown interest (arranged a call or asked for more information), then asks to see your financial model, it should strengthen their view/opinion of you/your startup. A badly conceived and implemented model can leave an investor with the feeling that you don’t have a grasp on the viability/sustainability of your business model.
- Once you’ve received our report, you can book a 30-minute debrief call with James Spurway where he will explain the review findings, and you can ask him any question you have about what actions to take, and if appropriate, he can provide contact details of freelance designers that can assist you to improve or redo your model.
I do offer a “bundled” product that I feel represents amazing value. If instead of purchasing this product, you purchase my Startup Investor-Ready Bundle, you receive all the benefits of the Financial Model Review + all the benefits of the Pitch Deck Review + an additional 2 x 30-minute 1:1 calls with me (James Spurway) in which we can discuss things like Fundraising Strategy etc.
